A torsion angle, also known as a dihedral angle, is formed by three consecutive bonds in a molecule and defined by the angle created between the two outer bonds. The backbone of a protein has three different torsion angles. The phi-angle (φ) – around the N-Cα bond. The psi-angle (ψ) – around the Cα-C bond. Webbtwo other torsion angle predictors: SPIDER2 [13] and TANGLE [5]. Our main contributions of this work in-clude: (1) introducing two novel features that are useful for protein torsion angle prediction; and (2) developing and evaluating different deep learning architectures for torsion angle prediction.
