The biggest improvements I have encountered was from getting softer meshing plungers from iOptron along with ensuring that all ball bearings are not preloaded when parts are tightened. WebApr 20, 2024 · Despite my optimism this GEM28 is indeed a lemon. After 3 nights of fairly decent tests tracking and guiding after replacing the RA board, both RA and DEC axes went "off the rails". RMA stats in the 4.5+ arc sec range and would not recover. I tried all I know of to bring them back in line short of disassembling the head but to no avail.
WebAug 6, 2024 · There is a 6lbs increase in load capacity with the GEM28 over the EQM-35 and the GEM28 is a lot lighter by 17 pounds with all the installed weights! Also, the GEM28 comes with a quiet belt-driven motor out of the box which didn’t need an upgrade as the EQM-35 did with belts that I did.
