WebThe diagnosis of oral frictional hyperkeratosis was established based on the clinical and microscopic findings. It was concluded that the hyperkeratosis was likely caused by bite trauma or grinding of the teeth while the patient was asleep. Triamcinolone 0.1% ointment in Orabase and tretinoin 0.05% gel were ineffective. Webtosis and small foci of parakeratosis, marked granular layer with dyskeratotic keratinocytes, and foci of su-prabasal acantholysis consistent with the diagnosis of DD (Figure 2, d, d). The patient was prescribed topi-cal steroid cream and 0.1% adapalene cream, which also led to improvement. In both of our cases, a final diagnosis of type 1
